Can I put two separate periods in one book?
Not directly — the date range is a single stretch from one date to another. What you can do is set the range to cover both periods and then use Edit content to untick the months in between, month by month. The book stays in date order, with the unwanted stretch removed.
Where to find it: Select the time period to be printed, then Edit content.
